Active_senior_water-LR-1.jpgIf you get bored drinking water during the summer months, you can try whipping up some interesting drinks using the contents of your kitchen. From smoothies to lemonade, the list is endless. And many of these drinks will taste good in addition to fulfilling your hydration needs. Here are some possibilities:

Lemonade

There’s nothing like good old lemonade in order to quench your thirst. You can make a jar of lemonade and keep it in your fridge. Or just make yourself a glass when you feel like it.

For 100 ml. of lemonade, you need half a lemon, one teaspoon sugar and a glass of cold water. Squeeze the lemon juice into the glass. Heat the sugar with a little water in your microwave until it melts, then add to the lemon juice. Finally, add water, stir and enjoy.

Watermelon Juice

A slice of cold watermelon is very enjoyable on a hot summer day. Watermelon juice , with a few pieces of the fruit floating in it can be equally enjoyable as you sit on your front porch.

It’s not hard to make watermelon juice. Just chop up the watermelon and put it through a blender. Then strain it so that you don’t get seeds in your mouth. Add a few chunks of watermelon and enjoy.

Vegetable Smoothie

This is a very nutritious, fun way to get all your vegetables. Plus, it also helps to keep you hydrated. You can practically put any vegetable you like into it.

For example, you can add carrot, cucumber, beetroot and green pepper. You’ll also need to add some water before you blend. Remember that vegetables take quite some time to blend or you’ll end up with a lot of chunks in your mouth. If you want the smoothie to be a little sweeter, add some fruit juice instead of water.
